WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO FOSTER A PET?
With so many pets filling up shelter space, fostering gives dogs and cats more time to find homes.
Fostering saves lives and is a great opportunity to:
Local animal shelters euthanize dozens of healthy and well-behaved dogs and cats every day to make room for even more animals coming into the shelter.
No-kill rescue groups must turn away hundreds of adoptable animals each week also due to a lack of space.
Foster parents also allow pets to receive care that is difficult in a shelter environment: the very young who've been orphaned or are developing their immune systems, animals recovering from surgery, or those in need of extra time to feel more confident, learn basic training, or a break from the shelter.
